Coming in 2012:

Death Valley: To the Extremes
February 16-19, 2011 Tuition: $450

At sunset, Badwater at 282 feet below sea level, sits literally in the shadow of Telescope Peak, thrust out of the arid playa to more than 11,000 feet above. Within a 24 hour span, the valley floor can reach temperatures well into three digits, and Dante's View a mile above, will be dusted with snow. Separated by less than a mile are badlands often covered in a carpet of golden wildflowers, and alkali-encrusted seeps where no living thing can survive. Such is the dichotomy of Death Valley.

Join us as we wander its heights and depths, and the impact our species has manifested on both its past and future. Likely field locations include the dunes at Stovepipe Wells, the contemporary ruins of Rhyolite, Harmony and Wildrose, the natural anomalies of Golden Canyon, Zabrisikie Point and Devil's Golf Course, and more. Our experience will conclude with - what else! - a Sunday buffet brunch at the historic Furnace Creek Inn, included in the tuition.
We'll be based in Beatty, Nevada; much less expensive than the park accommodations, yet no further from many of our field locations. Limited to twelve participants.REGISTER!

DINÉTAH: Navajo Country and Culture
October 7-13, 2012 Tutition: estimated $895; subject to change based on research on tour costs.

This is a land that is in turn austere and dramatic, and always spiritual; its people a study in perseverance and adaptability; its culture and history, rich and mysterious. We'll base for three nights each in the Monument Valley and Canyon de Chelly regions, traveling to Valley of the Gods, Shiprock, Cedar Mesa and many lesser-known locales, seeing the land in the beautiful light of autumn: the beginning of “the Season when Thunder Sleeps.” Tuition includes full-day tours of Monument Valley and Canyon de Chelly customized to our specific photographic requirements, and led by Navajo guides who know when the light is right at our field locations.

Enrollment is strictly limited; a $150 deposit will hold a space and is fully refundable until a month prior to the seminar, when payment in full is due. When this seminar was last offered,it was filled a year in advance.REGISTER!

You'll also find seminars and classes taught through other organizations, listed under that heading above.
